
Tampa Ranked #9 In Latest Cross Country Poll
NEW ORLEANS - The University of Tampa women's cross country team comes in at No. 9 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II National Poll. The Spartans were previously No. 8 after opening the season at No. 12.
The Spartan women are also ranked as the No. 1 team in the South Region while the UT men carry a No. 10 ranking the region. Tampa's women have now been ranked in 36 consecutive top-25 polls dating back to the first week of 2006.
Tampa finished eighth in the final poll of the 2008 season and was 14th at the NCAA Championships. UT was ranked as high as No. 7 last year, representing the highest ranking in school history.
The Spartan women have won three races this season, including the UT Early Bird Classic, Florida Tech Invite and Pre-Nationals. The Spartans finished second at the Florida Invite and third at the Florida State Invitational.
UT will compete in the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Championships on Saturday in Lakeland. The Spartans will then host the NCAA II Men's and Women's South Regional on Sat., Nov. 7 at Dover Trails.
