
Spartan Women Run To Another First Place Finish
MELBOURNE, Fla. - After winning the Early Bird Classic to begin the season, the No. 10 University of Tampa women's cross country team picked up another first-place finish at the Florida Tech Invite. The Spartan men also competed, finishing second at Wickham Park.
In the women's race, UT held off fellow Sunshine State Conference foes Nova Southeastern and Florida Tech to claim the title. Embry-Riddle edged the Spartans in the men's race as UT finished ahead of notable opponents Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech and Saint Leo.
Heather Nicolosi finished second in the women's 5K as teammate Kaia Hampton was fourth. Lindsay Edwards and Kelly Hagan turned in top-10 showings, crossing sixth and ninth respectively. Chanelle Cox was 11th as Dana Glodek (15) and Katie O'Brien (18) all earned top-20 achievement.
Charles Toledo was UT's top male finisher in the 8K, crossing third among all competitors. Kevin Lane and Bryan Garcia finished seventh and eighth respectively as Lewis Price (12) and Tory Webb (15) rounded out the Spartan scorers.
Tampa returns to the trails on Friday at the annual Florida Invite in Gainesville. The race is slated for 8 a.m.
