
Tampa Turns In Pair Of Sixth Place Finishes At FSU Invite
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's cross country teams each competed at the annual Florida State University Invitational, both finishing sixth overall in a talented field of teams. The men's event was an 8K as the women ran the 5K.
Florida State won the men's race, followed by Florida and Stephen F. Austin. A total of 11 team competed with UT finishing ahead of notable opponents South Florida and Troy.
Tony Nicolosi finished 20th to lead all Spartans with a time of 25:41.63. Charles Toledo (42), Kevin Lane (44), Lewis Price (47), Tory Webb (59), Ben Hilton (60), Jeremy Lautzenheiser (61), Kevin Harley (71), Michael Zwijacz (74) and Eddie Paniccia (80) also ran for UT.
Stephen F. Austin championed the women's race, coming in ahead of Florida State and North Florida. At sixth, UT outpaced Troy, Florida Southern, Fort Valley State and Edward Waters.
Heather Nicolosi led the Spartans, finishing seventh after posting a time of 17:55.26. Kaia Hampton and Lindsay Edwards were the next UT runners to cross, finishing 22nd and 23rd respectively. Also running for Tampa were Chanelle Cox (37), Iolani Scanlon (55), Katie O'Brien (58), Kelly Hagan (68), Hailey Smith (70), Kaitlyn Martin (71) and Jessie Luttenschlager (81).
Following a week with no races, the Spartans return to the course on Friday, Oct. 22 at the Florida Southern Invitational in Lakeland. The race is slated for 5 p.m.
