Spartans Compete With Nation’s Best at Louisville Invitational
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Tampa cross country teams both competed at the Louisville Invitational, with the Spartans competing in the blue races. UT's women finished 11th of 38 teams as the men were 25th of 42 teams.
Missouri captured the top-spot in the women's race as the Spartans were fourth among NCAA Division II schools. In the men's race, Hillsdale was the champion in the blue race. Both races took place at Tom Sawyer State Park.
Chantalle Blundell finished 15th overall, running the 5K in 18:28.40. Claudia Cancello was 27th overall with a time of 18:39.75. Also running for Jarrett Slaven's women were Elaina Cancello (19:14.15), Danielle Kissell (19:25.29), Aislinn Sroczynski (19:32.26), Kayla Sullivan (19:47.31) and Rachel Higgins (20:40.35).
Lars Benner was the top runner for the Spartan men in the 8K as the sophomore was 92nd overall after being clocked at 26:05.06. Also running for Tampa were Joey Maus (26:29.61), Geremy DeWitt (26:29.93), Tyler Blackburn (26:30.30), Steven Dennig (27:07.55), Cory Munsch (27:43.54) and Phil Robbins (28:27.23).
The Spartans will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Florida State Invitational on Friday.
