
Spartans Among Runners at Disney Classic
KISSIMMEE- Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's cross country teams ran at the annual Disney Classic, with the Spartan men finishing sixth and the women fourth.
In men's action, Tampa had 230 points as four of the top seven teams hailed form the Sunshine State Conference. Youngstown State University won the men's team title in the 8K, which included 25 teams.
Tyler Blackburn was 16th overall to lead all Tampa runners with a time of 25:55.90. Also running for the Spartans were Matt Hoffman (26:48.20), Brendan McGonagle (26:59.00), Cory Munsch (27:15.90), Jake Poore (27:43.90), Geremy DeWitt (27:48.70), Mitch Arnold (27:52.10), Sam Anderson (27:54.10), Joe Weber (27:56.70), Jessie Boria (28:19.90), Drew Carff (28:46.20), Beckett Wilson (28:54.50) and Eddie Keenan (29:10.70).
Tampa's women tallied 131 points as Johns Hopkins University won the team championship with 24 points.
Chantalle Blundell led Tampa as the senior finished inside the top-10 with a seventh-place effort of 18:05.60 in the 5K. She was joined by teammates Danielle Kissel (18:58.90) and Juli Boehm (19:00.90), who finished 24th and 25th respectively.
Also representing the Tampa women were Elaina Cancello (19:19.40), Aimee Epps (19:23.20), Claudia Cancello (19:25.30), Aislinn Sroczynski (20:05.50), Caitlin Whetstone (20:55.70), Mary Alice Smoot (21:04.80), Thea Ramsey (21:57.90) and Kayla Sullivan (22:18.00).
Tampa will return to action on October 17 at the USF Invite.
