
UT Women’s Cross Country Takes 8th SSC Title in 9-Year Span
LAKELAND, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team finished first place at the 2015 Sunshine State Conference Championships, which was hosted by Florida Southern College. The race was held at Holloway Park & Nature Preserve in Lakeland.
Tampa finished with 28 team points, edging out Saint Leo who finished with 29 team points. Tampa's top five runners finished No. 2, No. 5, No. 6, No. 7, and No. 8.
Colett Rampf of Saint Leo wins the SSC championship for the second consecutive year. Rampf finished with a time of 21:39.60. Chantalle Blundell of Tampa finished second with a time of 22:17.10. Anabel Knoll of Nova Southeastern University took third with a time of 22:31.00. The top 10 individual runners were named to the 2015 SSC Cross Country Championship Team.
In men's action, the Spartans finished fourth overall as Saint Leo won the SSC championship with 28 total points. Tyler Blackburn finished eighth overall to lead the Spartans, as he was clocked at 26:01.00.
The Spartans will next compete at the 2015 NCAA South Regional, which is set for November 7 at 8 a.m., at Saint Leo.
