
George Alexander Wins Mocs Kick-Off as Spartans Finish Second in Opener
LAKELAND, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's cross country team opened its 2023 season at the Mocs Kick-Off, which was hosted by Florida Southern College at Holloway Park.
Team Finish
Tampa displayed a strong team effort, finishing in the second position overall. The event was a 6K race.
Top Performers
- George Alexander (1st Place): Alexander emerged as the star of the event, securing the top spot in the Men's 6K race with an extraordinary time of 18:49.49 that shattered his previous personal best. This marks the first individual title for Alexander, who opened last season second at the Valdosta State Border Invite.

Gabe McConville (6th Place): McConville delivered a solid performance, finishing in the sixth position with a time of 19:18.29.

Jared Hammill (8th Place): Hammill showcased his skills and determination, securing the eighth position with a time of 19:20.35.

Aaron Engelhardt (10th Place): Engelhardt demonstrated his speed and endurance, finishing in the top 10 with a time of 19:24.21.
