SAINT LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa failed to hold onto a 1-0 lead as Saint Leo University scored a pair of seventh inning runs to take a 2-1 victory. The Spartans fall to 28-16 on the season and 13-6 in the Sunshine State Conference with the loss. Saint Leo improves to 28-20 and 10-8 in league action.
The Spartans got on the board in the first inning when Kelly Glover singled in Michele Horan to take a 1-0 lead. Devlin Dougherty started for Tampa and went 5.2 innings while giving up just one hit and striking out five.
The Lions then scored in the bottom on the seventh on a lead-off home run and then scored the winning run on a bases loaded walk.
The same teams will play on Saturday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
