UT Completes Sweep of Lynn
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa softball team recorded a Sunshine State Conference series sweep over Lynn University as it won both games of Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 4-3 and 5-3. The Spartans are now 26-7 overall and 9-3 in the SSC while Lynn is 16-27 and 3-12.
In game one, Michele Horan and Jessica Tejas each collected a pair of hits. A four run third inning for UT was all it needed to hold on for the victory.
Freshman Deanna Henriott pitched for Tampa and went the distance to improve her mark to 17-5 on the year. She struck out three in seven innings.
A two run second followed by a three run third was all Tampa needed as it turned way a seventh inning Lynn rally to secure the victory. Tejas added two hits to lead Tampa in the second game as well.
Heather VanLandingham earned her second victory of the three game series to improve to 9-2 on the season. She also had five strikeouts while going seven innings for the complete game.
Tampa will now have 13 games between games as it hosts Saint Leo University on Friday, April 11 at 7 p.m., in the first of a three game SSC series.
