UT’s Kayla Cox Named SSC Softball Pitcher of the Week
WINTER PARK, Fla. - Tampa's Kayla Cox has been selected Sunshine State Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week presented by VALIC.
Cox, a senior from Riverview, Fla. recorded three complete-games, including a complete game one-hit shutout in the series opener against Eckerd. Cox now has 11 complete games on the season. The senior opened the week with a 5-1 win over Northwestern Ohio where she recorded 16 strikeouts and allowed just one run on five hits.
In a 3-0 series-opening win against Eckerd, Cox allowed just one hit and struck out nine batters in a complete-game shutout. The senior closed the series with the Tritons pitching a two-hit complete game 2-1 win where she struck out eight more batters. Cox finished the week with a 0.33 ERA, allowing just one earned run and struck out 33 batters in 21 innings of work.
