HOW IT HAPPENED:
Bott. 5th: With one out on the board, Erica Matich kickstarted the offense that had been dormant for the first four innings of the game. She doubled to left field and came in to score on another double by Sahrina Cortes. Shelby Press singled to right field and allowed Cortes to move to third. With runners on the corners and just one out, Press put on more pressure on the visiting side as she stole second freely. A fielding error by the second baseman allowed Dooley to reach first base and load the bases. A single by Phillips made it 2-0 and M.Farrell hit a sacrifice fly to right field to make it 3-0 Tampa. Proffitt kept the offense going as she singled to third base and allowing Dooley to come home. After Taphouse replaced Phillips as a pinch runner, Lauren Reyes drove her in with a hit up the middle. With her second at-bat of the inning, Matich hit her second double of the night to clinch the win as she cleared the bases.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Matich finished the night going 3 for 3 at the plate with one run and three RBI and two doubles, the second being the final play of the night.
