
Makaleigh Dooley Named SSC Pitcher of the Week for 2nd Straight Week
The junior led Tampa to a 2-1 series win over the No.19 Lions
MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Sunshine State Conference announced its weekly award winners and recognized junior Makaleigh Dooley as the Pitcher of the Week. Dooley has been selected as the Pitcher of the Week for the second time in a row and third overall as Tampa now has four recognitions in these awards overall.
The Tampa, Fla. native was key in helping her team upset the No.19 Saint Leo University Lions in a 2-1 series win. Dooley went 2-1 in the circle pitching three complete games. The pitcher shutout the Lions offense in back to back starts. Overall, Dooley had 13 strikeouts, no walks, and gave up just two runs in 21 innings of work.
The Spartans now sit at 25-16 overall and 16-11 in SSC play, tied with Saint Leo for third in the conference. The team will wrap up the regular season at home this coming weekend with a three-game series against the Eckerd College Tritons.
