
Erica Matich and Nick DeTringo Recognized As Academic All-District First Team Members
Matich had a 3.96 GPA as a biochemistry major while DeTringo had a 3.63 GPA as an allied health major
TAMPA, Fla. - The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
Junior Erica Matich was named to the Division II District 5 Softball First Team. Matich, who played second base this season for the Spartans, finished the 2017-2018 season with a 3.96 GPA as a biochemistry major. On the field, she appeared in 37 games with 32 starts during the season recording 12 hits (three doubles), nine runs, and five RBI. She recorded 63 putouts and 36 assists while having just seven errors for a .934 fielding percent.
Junior Nick DeTringo was named to the Division II District 5 Baseball First Team. DeTringo, an outfielder for the Spartans finished the 2017-2018 academic year with a 3.63 GPA as an allied health major. On the field, he has appeared in 45 games for Tampa and is third on the team offensively with a .357 avg. He is second on the team in home runs with seven and has scored 35 runs while adding 31 RBI and has shown speed on the bases as he is also second on the team with 13 stolen bases.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed here for baseball and softball and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
