Sharks Sweep Spartans in DH
Tampa, Fla. - The University of Tampa softball team again went up against Nova Southeastern again in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Spartans and the Sharks conclude a three-game weekend matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME ONE:
Top 2nd
After the no runs in the first inning, the Sharks were determined to get on the scoreboard quickly. The Sharks set the tone with a double from Janowiak. A sac bunt would then advance her to third base putting the Sharks in good territory to score. An infield single scores Janowiak as the Shark go up one I 1-0 (Sharks).
Bottom 5th
The Spartans didn't get their bats going until late in the game. A single by Lilly Kiester, the No. 2 hitter in the lineup, would kick off the Spartans offense with a base hit up the middle. A groundout would advance Kiester to second base as the tying run in scoring position. Next, Mariah Galhouse singles to score Kiester and tie the game at one I 1-1.
Top 6th
The Sharks would immediately retaliate to what transpired in the last inning. With a runner in scoring position and two outs, hit an RBI base single to put the Sharks back into the lead I 2-1 (Sharks).
Top 7th
The Sharks, leading by one and having their final at bat did not take it for granted. After a single, Swantic came into pinch run for Morris. Swantic advanced to second base after a successful sac bunt. Next up was Hendricks, who singled up the middle to score the pinch runner Swantic and put the Sharks up two I 3-1 (Sharks).
Bottom 7th
With the Spartans down by two in their final at bat, they were looking for a comeback. Avery Perkins would lead off the bottom of the seventh with a double to left center, pushing momentum into the Spartans offense. Perkins would score off an error by the shortstop on a routine ground ball, allowing Galhouse to reach first base I 3-2 (Sharks). Galhouse reached second off a sac bunt and then advanced to third after another Sharks error. Corynn Miner, who was previously on first base, steals second to have the walk-off run in scoring position. However, this possibility fell short after the precoedding next two batters popped flies.

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME TWO:
Top 1st
The Sharks brought their momentum from the first game straight into the second, leading off with back-to-back singles. However the Sharks could not capitalize on this opportunity going down on outs and leaving two runners on base.
Top 4th
NSU's Janowiak singled up the middle to start the inning. A sac fly to left field would advance Janowiak to second base. The Sharks would go down on outs; left Janowiak on base.
Top 6th
After NSU's Williams stole second base, Janowiak hit a double down the left field line to reel in the first run of the game I 1-0 (Sharks).
Bottom 6th
The Spartans would try to retaliate with a single by Galhouse. Then a sac bunt to advance her to second base. Then, Miner was hit by a pitch to runners at first and second base.Abigail Siegel pinch hit for Lexie Chevalier which resulted in a walk, loading up the bases with only one out. However, a fielder's choice and a groundout would keep the bases loaded and the score would remain.
Top 7th
NSU's Hendricks hit a double to left field putting her in position to score another run for the Sharks. Hendricks then stole third base. But the Sharks go down on outs and leave one runner on base. The next half-inning, the Spartans went down on three at bats to close out the game.
