Spartans Victorious Over Mocassins in SSC DH
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa's softball team faced off against the Florida Southern Moccasins in a doubleheader Friday evening. This would conclude the Spartans fifth doubleheader in a week.

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME ONE:
Top 1st
The pitcher for the Spartans first game of the doubleheader was Mary Beth Feldman. Feldman who is 4-1 with a current ERA of 0.72, did not get off the start that she hoped. Feldman delt with Florida Southern's first batter, Dewith and her walked her. The Moccasins came out with their bats alive and ready. After the walk, a sac bunt was placed down and left unanswered to advance Dewith to second base. With runners in scoring position, Colgate doubled to center field, which allowed the Moccasins to take the first lead of the game I 2-0 (Moccassins).
Bottom 1st
After Mariah Galhouse was hit by a pitch and Stephanie Balmer walked, Lauren Fantone was up to bat. Galhouse already in scoring position, attempts to steal third base but is thrown by catcher, Victoria Rodriguez. Balmer however did make it to second. This gave Fantone a great opportunity, which she capitalized on by ripping an RBI single to right field to lower the deficit I 2-1 (Moccasins).
Bottom 2nd
With only one out, secondbaseman, Alexa Russo hit a solo-shot homerun to tie the game I 2-2
Bottom 8th
With both teams combining for only one hit after the 2nd innning, we go into extra innings. The Spartans tried to close it out in extra innings after the Moccasins had a chance to break the tie but unfortunately left two runners on base. Corynn Miner broke the Spartans hitting drouhght with a double to center field. Miner, the game-winning run, advanced to third after a gorundout by Lexie Chevalier. Next at bat was Russo. Russo reached first base on an infield error by the shortshop (E6) which allowed Miner to score for the walk-off run.

The Spartans started off the game on their usual tendecies, not letting their opponents score and taking advantage of their opportunities. With a runner in scoring position, Avery Perkins singled up the middle for an RBI single, reeling in the first run of the second game I 1-0 (Spartans).
Bottom 5th
Fantone started off the inning doing what she usually does, getting on base. She would reach first after an error by the shortshop (E5) that allowed her to advance to second on the overthrow. With one out, Russo gets her third RBI of the night, with a single up the middle to score Fantone I 2-0 (Spartans). Miranda Perez pinched ran for Chevalier and Mackenzie Allen pinched ran for Russo. Perez lined out to right field, tagging was Allen who scored I 3-0 (Spartans).
Bottom 6th
After a single and an error by the thirdbaseman (E5), Galhouse grounded out to advance both Lilly Kiester and Perkins in scoring position. Kate DeSimone, who pinched hit for Balmer, steps into the batters box and slugs a three-run homerun I 6-0 (Spartans).
