Galhouse's Perfect Game & Save Put the Moccasins Away in DH

TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 3 University of Tampa's softball team sweep Florida Southern in a doubleheader that occured Friday evening. This would be the first two games out of three for this SSC rivalry.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Game One Final: No. 3 Tampa 8, Florida Southern Moccasins 0

Game Two Final: No. 3 Tampa 5, Florida Southern Moccasins 4

Records: No. 3 University of Tampa Spartans (20-1 6-0 SSC), Florida Southern Moccasins (14-13 5-6 SSC)

Location: Naimoli Family Softball Field | Tampa, Fla.

All-time Series: The Spartans are 57-77 against the Moccasins all-time. Their last matchup was April 23rd which resulted in a 8-0 victory for the Spartans.

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME ONE:

Bottom 1st

With two runners already on base, Avery Perkins singled to shallow right to score in a run. | 1-0 (Tampa) Now having runners in scoring position, Lexie Chevalier, followed up with a two-RBI single that score in two runners. | 3-0 (Tampa)

Bottom 3rd

Although, Kate DeSimone flew out to left field during her at-bat, it allowed Perkins to score and tally an additional run to the score. | 4-0 (Tampa)

Bottom 5th

Chevalier hit a grounder out to second base which allowed Perkins to score for another RBI. | 5-0 (Tampa)

Bottom 6th

Kylie Siwek reached 1st base after an error by Florida Southern's third baseman. This allowed Lily Keister to score and simultaneusly advanced two runners into scoring position. | 6-0 (Tampa) Next up, Chevalier hit a two-run single to close out the game via mercy rule. | 8-0 (Tampa)

INSIDE THE STATS — GAME ONE:

• Tampa had eight RBI's; Chevalier had five of them
• Mariah Galhouse had 5 strikeouts
• Florida Southern gave up six walks

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME TWO:

Bottom 1st

Galhouse set the tone early with a two-RBI single to center field to put the Spartans up two. | 2-0 (Tampa)

Bottom 3rd

A line-drive hit to left-field would result as in RBI-double for Camryn Wineinger, who scored in Kiester. | 3-0 (Tampa)

Bottom 5th

Perkins hit an infield single to score in two runs and would give the Spartans breathing room from the Moccasins. | 5-0 (Tampa)

Top 6th

Kenleigh Smith (FSC) hit an RBI single to left field, scoring her teammate, Kiki Morris in. | 5-1 (Tampa). As Mary Beth Feldman tried to deliver a pitch, an error occured resulting in another Moccasin run to score. | 5-2 (Tampa). Third baseman, Taylor Thomas (FSC) would then hit an RBI single to score in Smith. | 5-3 (Tampa)

Top 7th

Kiki Morris (FSC)singled to center field to score in Macayla Brady scored to put the Moccasins within one from tying the game. | 5-4 (Tampa)

INSIDE THE STATS — GAME TWO:

• Galhouse & Perkins contributed four of the teams eight RBI's.
• Feldman recieved her seventh-straight victory on the season.
• Galhouse received her second save on the season.
