
Mariah Galhouse, Camryn Wineinger Named First-Team All-Region
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has revealed the 2023 NFCA Division II All-Region teams with the nation's top team, the University of Tampa, garnering a pair of first-team selections in Mariah Galhouse and Camryn Wineinger. This year's squads are comprised of 204 student-athletes from 112 programs.
Galhouse, a senior from Spring Hill, Fla., is recognized as a pitcher, though she has also excelled as an outfielder and hitter in the Spartans lineup. In the circle, Galhouse is 14-3 with 21 appearances for UT. Starting 16 games this season, she has amassed 75 strikeouts in 111.2 innings pitched. She also has three saves while tossing 10 complete games for the top-ranked Spartans.
Wineinger, a senior second baseman from Plant City, Fla., has enjoyed a stellar first season as a Spartan as her .410 batting average is tops on the squad. In 43 games, Wineinger has a team-best six home runs with 40 RBI. She has also scored 36 runs and stolen four bases. Among her 48 hits are 19 extra-base hits, as she has also registered eight doubles and five triples. Currently carrying an 8-game hitting streak, she has 14 multiple-hit games this year.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2023 NFCA Division II All-America squads. The 2023 NFCA Division II All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 24 at the NCAA Division II Championship banquet in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Celebrating 40 years in 2023, the NFCA is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded All-Region and All-America awards, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from podcasts to a comprehensive drills database, to in-person events and a National Convention.
