SPARTANS START CONFERENCE PLAY WITH A PAIR OF WINS AGAINST THE FIGHTING KNIGHTS
TAMPA, Fla. - No. 4 Tampa Spartans defeat the Lynn Fighting Knights to open conference play in the 2023-2024 season.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE:
- Lynn started strong with a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Tampa quickly responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Tampa continued to add runs throughout the game, ultimately securing the win.
- Key players for Tampa included Lauren Fantone, who had three RBIs, and Alexa Russo, who contributed with both hitting and scoring. Pitcher Mariah Galhouse also had a strong performance, allowing only four runs over seven innings.
- On the Lynn side, Maddie Prickett stood out with two RBIs, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Despite the loss, Lynn put up a good fight throughout the game.

- Galhouse secured her fourth win of the season, pitching all seven innings, recording five strikouts.
- Russo 3-3 with one RBI
- Fantone 1-2 with three RBIs
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO:
- Tampa got on the board early, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding one more in the second. They continued to add to their lead with one run in the third and two more in the fifth inning. Lynn struggled to get their offense going, managing only three hits in the game.
- Tampa pitcher Kate DeSimone had a dominant performance, pitching a complete game shutout while allowing only three hits and striking out six batters.
- Key offensive contributors for Tampa included Camryn Wineinger, who had a triple and a stolen base, and Lauren Fantone, who had a single and an RBI. The Spartans' strong performance both on the mound and at the plate led them to a decisive victory over Lynn.

- DeSimone earned her second with of the season, pitching all seven innings, recording six strikeouts, allowing only three hits, giving up zero runs.
