A Pair Of Walk-Off Wins Secure The Series For Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. - No. 3 Tampa responds with a pair of wins against No. 20 Rollins to take the series.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE:

  • The game was a complete pitching duel with Mariah Galhouse going 9.0 innings and Emily Macmullen 8.1 innings in the circle. 
  • Spartans and the Tars would go scoreless until the bottom of the 9th when Galhouse singled through left, driving in Avery Perkins to secure Tampa the win.

INSIDE THE STATS: 

  • Galhouse earned the win striking out nine batters, allowing two hits, giving up zero runs. Also went 1-3 at-bat with the winning RBI.
  • Lauren Fantone 2-4.
  • Perkins 1-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO:

  • Tampa took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Lilly Kiester reached first on an error by the Tars, leading to Lauren Fantone scoring for the Spartans.
  • Rollins would respond in the top 4th with Claire Long driving in Bri Michelli, evening the score.
  • Grace Germer would extend Rollins lead in the 5th inning singling to left field, advancing to second on an error, and Kaeli Zahradnik reaching home unearned.
  • Alexa Russo would keep Tampa in the game with a base hit to second, scoring Camryn Wineinger in the bottom of the 6th inning.
  • Wineinger would win the game for the Spartans in extra innings doubling to left field, bringing in Devin Hammonds.
