Seven Spartans Nominated For All-SSC Accolades And DeSimone Earns Major Award
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference presents the 2024 softball postseason awards. Thirty-nine student-athletes from 10 member institutions are recognized as All-Conference. Tampa leads the way with 10 award winners, including Pitcher of the Year. Voting for the All-SSC softball awards was conducted among the league's head coaches.
The SSC champions from UT placed five on the first team including Camryn Wineinger (2B), Mariah Galhouse (UTIL-P), Lilly Kiester (OF), Lauren Fantone (OF), and Kate DeSimone (P). Second team selections include veteran Lexie Chevalier (C) and freshman Kinnah Kreidler (DP). Additionally, Kiester and Chevalier were named to the All-SSC Defensive Team.
Tampa's Kate DeSimone is voted SSC Pitcher of the Year for the first time in her career. DeSimone helped guide the Spartans to a program record 41-win season. The Univeristy of Tampa won its third consecutive Sunshine State Conference title, the programs seventh overall. DeSimone appeared in 20 games for the Spartans pitching 99.1 innings, recording 11 wins, 2 loss, and 2 saves.
