
Spartans Set School Record With 20th Straight Win Behind Abby Sulte Walk-Off
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 2 University of Tampa softball team won its 20th consecutive game to establish a new school record as it dominated in a decisive victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Tampa jumped ahead with a four-run first inning. After loading the bases, Abby Sulte worked a walk to push across the first run. The big blow came from Kate DeSimone, who ripped a three-run triple down the right-field line, clearing the bases and giving the Spartans a quick 4-0 advantage. In the third, Tampa tacked on two more runs. Abby Sulte continued her hot bat, driving in Mariah Galhouse with an RBI single before Devin Hammonds later scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 6-0. The exclamation point came in the fifth inning when Sulte blasted a three-run homer to left field, scoring Alexa Russo and Mariah Galhouse to end the game early on a walk-off at 9-0. Gwen McGinnis continued her dominant season, allowing just one hit and striking out seven in a complete-game shutout.
