Sheena Walton Receives Second Straight First Team All Conference Honor; Two Other Spartans Honored
ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa women's basketball player Sheena Walton became the first Spartan since Crystal Ashley in 1994 to receive a second consecutive first-team all-Sunshine State Cofnerence selection. Alexa Kane was chosen second-team all-SSC while Angela Guiu was chosen to the all-freshman team.
Walton, who leads the conference in field goal percentage (57.7), blocked shots (3.68) and offensive rebounds (3.41), is the lone player in the conference who ranks in the top-five in both scoring (14.1 ppg) and rebounding (8.3). She also ranks second in the nation in blocked shots and ninth in field goal percentage. She has scored in double figures in 18 games this season with seven double-doubles. Walton has also led UT in scoring and rebounding on nine occasions.
Kane, the SSC leader in assists (4.33), has earned her first selection to the all-SSC team. One of three Spartans averaging double figures, Kane averages 11.9 points and 6.6 rebounds. She is also the team leader with 41 steals from the forward position. Guiu earned a significant bump in playing time throughout the season, starting six games. She was second on the team with 26 three-pointers as her 38.8 three point percentage ranked second in the league.
