Sheena Walton Named All-American Finalist
ATLANTA, Ga. - University of Tampa women's basketball player Sheena Walton has been chosen as a finalist for the 2007 Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team for the NCAA II Region 5. Walton is looking to become UT's first women's basketball All-American since Trysta Morenz in 2000 and the sixth in program history.
As one of five finalists from the region, the group joins the 35 finalists previously released, who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions. They are now in the running for selection to the 10-member Kodak/WBCA All-America Team.
Walton finished the 2006-07 season as a first-team all-Sunshine State Conference selection while averaging a team-high 13.6 points per game. She also led the SSC with 99 blocks and a .540 field goal percentage. While also ranking second in the SSC with 8.2 rebounds per game, Walton was the lone player in the league to rank in the top five in scoring and rebounding.
