Well Rounded Effort Gets Tampa Women First Round Conference Win
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's basketball team captured their first win in the quarterfinals against Saint Leo, with a score of 62-39. The Spartans are now 23-5, and 14-3 in the conference. Saint Leo ends their season with a record of 13-15 overall, and 6-10 in the conference.
Tampa never trailed the entire game, and held a 30-14 advantage
heading into half time. Following a 15-minute break, the Spartans
extended their lead to 23 by the end of the game.
Sheena Walton had 16 points and 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.
DeShaydia Mackey wasn't too far behind with 12 points, as well as a
season and game high of seven assists. Alexa Kane chipped in 10
points. Tampa received a boost from Brittany Ridley who scored
eight points off the bench.
Tampa will play the winner of tonight's quarterfinal game
between Rollins and Florida Southern on Saturday. Tip-off is
scheduled for 7:30 pm.
