Turnovers Doom Spartans Against No. 14 Rollins
WINTER PARK, Fla. - The University of Tampa (9-11, 2-8 SSC) women's basketball team committed a season-high 25 turnovers in a 79-51 loss to No. 14 Rollins College (16-3, 8-2 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference meeting on Wednesday evening.
Down 19-16 with just over eight minutes to play in the first half, the Spartans had seven turnovers in the remainder of the first half as the Tars took a 38-24 lead to the break on its home court.
Moriah Hodge led all Spartans with 18 points as her frontcourt mate Jaleesa Harmon added 15 to make the duo the lone Spartans in double digits. Sarah Wickham and Kamari Smith each grabbed five rebounds as Wickham paced the Spartans with three assists while Smith notched two steals.
Tampa will next play host to SSC opponent Barry University on Saturday at 2 p.m., from the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. UT will offer live stats and a video webcast through TampaSpartans.tv.
