
UT Women’s Basketball Roll Lions in Overtime
ST. LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's basketball team shook Saint Leo University for a 68-63 win in overtime Wednesday night. The Spartans improve to 15-8 on the season with a 5-8 record in Sunshine State Conference matchups while the Lions dip to 12-12 on their campaign with a 7-7 conference tally.
Five Spartans tallied double-digit points in the victory, as guard Illyssa Vivo led the squad with 19 points. The junior also tallied 11 rebounds good for a double-double while forward Moriah Hodge mirrored with 17 boards and 13 total points.
The last UT double-double to be had was credited to center Sadie Oyer as the junior notched 10 each in rebounds and total points. Oyer accounted for five of Tampa's seven blocks, as the Spartans totaled 42 defensive boards against the Lion's 27.
Guards Catherine Matthews and Juliana Cavallaro scored 14 and 10 points respectively to round out the Tampa offense.
Saint Leo guard Teresa Manigrasso led all players with 24 points for the Lions as they could not shake a victory from the Spartan squad.
Tampa head coach Tom Jessee takes game two of the season series from his wife, SLU head coach Nikki Jessee, as the household is split 1-1 on the season.
