
Spartans Outlast Buccaneers to Split Season Series
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (16-8, 6-8 SSC) women's basketball team held off Barry University (13-11, 4-10 SSC) for a 58-47 victory in a Sunshine State Conference contest at the Martinez Center.
Tampa led for the final eight-plus minutes of the first half, eventually taking a 25-19 lead to the half. The Spartans stretched their lead to double figures with a 42-31 lead and 10:37 to play, as the Bucs were only able to come as close as five points as UT closed the door on the Bucs.
Illyssa Vivo and Moriah Hodge led Tampa with 15 points apiece as Hodge also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Vivo also led UT with four assists and two steals.
Tampa returns to action on Wednesday for senior day as it hosts SSC rival Florida Southern at 5:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available through TampaSpartans.tv.
