Tampa Too Much For Warner

TAMPA, Fla. - After receiving their highest
ranking in school history, the No. 6 University of Tampa Spartans
(4-0) defeated he Warner University Royals (3-4) by a final of
66-48.
The first half was an overall team effort, as seven UT players
notched points on their way to a 31-23 halftime lead. Junior
Juliana Cavallaro lead the way with eight points.
As a team, the Spartans shot 47.8% (11-23) from the field,
including 3-6 from beyond the arc. The defense also played a key
factor, as they were able to cause nine Warner turnovers.
In the second half, the Spartans were able to keep putting
pressure on the Royals, as they were able to push ahead to a 14
point lead with 14 minutes left in the second half. Tampa was able
to push up their lead to 21 point with 4:05 left in the game.
Cavallaro lead the team with 18 points and eight rebounds,
Taylor McVey and Angela Alvarez each added double figure points,
with 14 and 12 respectively. Junior Ellen Nurmi led the Spartans
with five assists.
Tampa travels to Bellingham, Washington to play in the Western
Washington Tournament hosted by Western Washington University.
Tampa plays on Friday against Western Washington and on Saturday
against Saint Martins.
