Spartans Drop Game At Western Washington

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The University of Tampa
women's basketball (4-1) team squared off against the Western
Washington University Vikings (4-2) on Friday night in the Lynda
Goodrich Classic. WWU used a hot shooting night to lead them to an
85-56 victory.
In the first half, the Vikings jumped out to a 12 point lead
in the first few minutes, and never looked back. In the half WWU
shot 55.6 percent (15-27) from the field, including 66.7 (8-12)
from three-point land. The Spartans were able to bring the lead
back down to 12 but Western Washington went on a run to increase
their lead back to 43-25 going into the half.
In the second half, the Vikings continued to build on the
first half, and never allowed for the Spartans to get back into the
ball game.
Senior, Aisha Rodney led the team with 14 points for the
Spartans. Juniors, Taylor McVey and Juliana Cavallaro added double
figures, with 11 and 10 respectively.
Tampa will be in action again tomorrow, as they take on Saint
Martin's University at 5:30PT.
