
Cavallaro Wins Third SSC Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa junior, Juliana Cavallaro, earns SSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time of the 2014-15 season. Cavallaro was selected SSC Player of the Week from a pool of nominees for her performance during the week of February 2-8 and will be nominated for USBWA National Player of the Week honors.
The 5-9 guard from Venice, Florida scored 24 points and added eight rebounds in a 76-45 road win over Lynn University. Cavallaro was 5-11 from the three point line and also added three assists and three steals in the win over the Fighting Knights.
Cavallaro helped the Spartans get a home win over No. 18 Florida Tech, contributing 25 points. In the 64-61 win over the Panthers, the junior guard was a perfect 6-6 from the field and 3-3 from behind the arc. She also added six rebounds and two assists.
Cavallaro averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game this week. She shot 13-23 from the field and 8-14 from three to help the Spartans improve to 7-4 in SSC play. Cavallaro's two scoring totals this week came up just short of her season best (26).
The Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday, as they host the Eckerd College Tritons in the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
