Mocs Bite Spartans
LAKELAND, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's basketball team traveled to Lakeland, for their final road regular season contest, as they took on the Florida Southern College Moccasins. The Mocs defense proved to be too much, as the FSC took the game by a final score of 79-54.
Tampa drops to 15-10, 8-7 SSC, while Florida Southern improves to 13-12, 7-8 SSC play.
After entering the half with the game close at 35-31, Florida Southern used a strong second half to lead them to victory. In the second half of the contest, the Mocs Outscored the Spartans 44-23. FSC's defense also stepped it up a notch in the second half, as they held UT to 8-30 (26.7%) from the field. Florida Southern also produced offensively, as they shot 12-22 (54.5%) in the half.
Juliana Cavallaro and Aisha Rodney each led the Spartans in scoring, as they each netted 15 points. Cavallaro added eight rebounds on the night. Rodney also added two rebounds on the night.
Karma Jeremie and Taylor Mcvey were effective on the board, as Jeremie picked up nine reounds, and Mcvey racked up eight rebounds.
Tampa will be back in action on Saturday as they welcome in the Barry Buccaneers. This game will mark senior day for three players, as Rodney, Catherine Matthews and Jenny Taptich will be honored.
