
Tampa Fall Short In Region Road Matchup

COLUMBIA, SC - The Tampa Spartans traveled to take on the Benedict College Tigers Saturday afternoon, and dropped the region contest by a score of 73-61.
Tampa shot just 38.3 from the field as a team but managed to shoot 45.8 from behind the arc. UT had three players score in double-figures leading the way was Juliana Cavallaro with 27 points. Also scoring double-digit points for the Spartans were Elena De Alfredo, who tallied 16 points and Ellen Nurmi, who chipped in 11 points of her own.
Defensively Tampa lost the battle of the boards hauling in just 28 rebounds to Benedict's 43. Taylor McVey lead all Spartans with her five rebounds, Cavallaro, and Nurmi each pulled in four boards of their own respectively.
Following the loss Tampa now sits at 4-6 on the season, UT returns to action Saturday, December 19 when they travel to Melbourne, Fla. to take on the Drury Panthers. Live stats will be available for fans to follow the action via Tampaspartans.com.
