Spartans Welcome In Lynn For Senior Night
Wednesday Marks The Final Home Game For Six Women and Two Men
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball team are set to host their final regular season home game Wednesday night in the Bob Martinez Athletics Center as they welcome in Lynn University. The women will kick off the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. while the men are scheduled to play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday marks senior night for six women and two men.
The women's team enter this game with a 14-12 record and 7-7 in Sunshine State Conference play. Lynn enters with a record of 4-20 on the year and 2-13 in SSC play. The Spartans will play the Fighting Knights for the second time this season as Tampa took the first matchup in Boca Raton 70-59. Juliana Cavallaro led UT as the senior put up 17 points. Karma Jeremie recorded her first double-double of her career in the game, as the sophomore scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Ellen Nurmi also added 14 points in the game.
Offensively, Cavallaro leads the Spartans on the season with 14.6 points per game and ranks second on the team with five rebounds per game. Elena de Alfredo is averaging 12.3 points per game and ranks second on the team with three assists per game.
Angela Alvarez, Juliana Cavallaro, Candace Martino, Taylor McVey, Ellen Nurmi, and Vanessa Sylvain will all be playing their final regular season home game for the University of Tampa.
The men's team enter their contest with a record of 9-16 overall and 4-10 in SSC play. Lynn sits at 11-13 overall and 5-10 in conference play. The two teams met earlier this season, as the Fighting Knights took the contest 82-71. Pat Bacon paced the Spartans with 22 points and Austin Rettig was just behind with 21 points.
Bacon continues to lead the team in scoring with 19.9 points per game as well as leading all Division II freshman in scoring. Austin Rettig is contributing with 14.2 points per game and Marcel Robinson is adding 10.4 points a contest. Duke Shelton leads the team on the glass as the center is pulling down 6.7 rebounds per game.
Zach Hollis and Tyler Zacur will be playing in their final home game for the Spartans.
