Nagy, Tyghter Named First-Team All-SSC
The University of Tampa was represented through Dori Nagy and Staja Tyghter.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern College, Sunshine State Conference regular-season champion, boasts five All-SSC awards including Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. In all, 16 women's basketball student-athletes earn All-SSC recognition following the 2018-19 season. The University of Tampa was represented through Dori Nagy and Staja Tyghter, as Nagy earned All-SSC Newcomer of the Year and both student-athletes were named to the All-SSC First Team.
Nagy is only the second Spartan to win Newcomer of the Year as Ellen Nurmi won the award in 2014. The Pecs, Hungary native led the conference in total rebounds (246) and rebounds per game (9.1), and finished second in the conference in FG% (50.2). The sophomore USF transfer led UT in rebounding while trailing only Tyghter in total points.
Tyghter was named to the First Team in the SSC, moving up from Second Team honors last season. The Orlando native was named to the Newcomer Team last season after transferring from Georgia State University. This year, she was third in the conference with 8.7 rebounds per game and she logged the most minutes in the conference (1,032). She averaged 14.3 points per game, which ranked 6th in the SSC.
