
Tampa Takes Third Straight in Blowout Fashion
CENTRAL, S.C. – Following a pair of crucial South Region victories over the weekend, The No. 11 University of Tampa women's basketball team traveled to Southern Wesleyan University for a Tuesday night meeting.

All-Time Series: Tampa and Southern Wesleyan met for the second time, and first since 2017 when UT registered an 82-65 victory at the Martinez Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
Tampa grabbed momentum with a dominating first quarter, holding the Warriors to 2-for-20 shooting from the field. The Spartans, meanwhile, were 7-for-14 from the floor while also outrebounding Southern Wesleyan 13-8 in the first 10 minutes. UT would finish the quarter with a 16-4 advantage.
2nd QUARTER
It was more of the same in the second quarter as the Spartans found their shooting touch, going 9-for-12 from the field. The swarming Tampa defense held the Warriors to a 16.7 percent clip as they hit just 3-of-18 shots. Tampa would go to the break with a 36-13 lead over the home team.
3rd QUARTER
Southern Wesleyan shot 5-for-17 from the field and forced six Spartan turnovers, also scoring 12 points in the third quarter. Though outscored 17-12 by the Spartans, the Warriors were significantly overmatched on the boards as Tampa grabbed 15 rebounds compared to just five by Southern Wesleyan.
4th QUARTER
The teams played an even final 10 minutes, with each scoring 11 points to close out the contest. All 11 UT points came from a pair of players off the bench, with Danielle Delano scoring seven and Terri Battle four.
INSIDE THE STATS
- Eleanore Marciszewski came off the bench to lead all Spartans with 15 points. The junior James Madison transfer hit 6-of-8 field goals, including both 3-point attempts.
- Also scoring double figures were Melijah Sullivan with 14 and Dori Nagy with 10.
- Delano had a team-leading seven rebounds.
- Nagy also held team honors with four assists.
- Sullivan was also credited with a pair of blocked shots.
- Southern Wesleyan forced 26 Spartan turnovers, while committing just 13 themselves.
BEYOND THE BOX
- Already surpassing 1,000 career collegiate points between Tampa and South Florida, Nagy now stands at 988 career points in her four seasons at UT.
- Southern Wesleyan is a fellow NCAA Division II member who plays in the Conference of the Carolinas.
NEXT UP: The Spartans open Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale against Nova Southeastern University. The game is slated for 12:00 p.m., at the Taft Center.
