
Tampa Holds off Lynn in Saturday Afternoon Battle
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 14 University of Tampa women's basketball team continued their win streak with a victory over Lynn University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
The first quarter opened up with junior Erin Antosh scoring two points. The Spartans continued to dominate the possession battle early in the quarter, scoring six unanswered points. Towards the middle of the half, the Fighting Knights started to score some points of their own. With 3:40 left in the first quarter, the Fighting Knights cut into the Spartans 12-8 lead. With around 2:00 minutes left, the Fighting Knights took the lead and the Spartans decided to call a timeout. The Spartans did not give up the lead without a fight though. Ultimately, the Fighting Knights would make a comeback and take a narrow lead headed into the second quarter. || Score: 19-14 Lynn
2nd QUARTER
The Spartans opened up the second quarter with Antosh making a layup in the early minutes. The Spartans continued with their great defensive play, helping keep the Fighting Knights scoring to a minimum. In the middle of the quarter, the score was 23-18, with the Spartans trailing closely behind. There was a scoring drought for both teams towards the end of the quarter, but LaShayla Wright-Ponder scored for the Spartans to end it. The Spartans offense started to gain some momentum, and they took the lead with 1:00 remaining before the half. Melijah Sullivan continued her amazing play in this quarter, with a team leading eight points headed into halftime. The Spartans outstanding team effort caused them to earn the lead. || Score: 25-23 Tampa
3rd QUARTER
This quarter opened up with the Spartans on offense. Similarly to the first two quarters, the Spartans opened up the scoring with Danielle Delano making a layup. The Spartans offense continued to score, keeping the momentum they found late in the second quarter. With 5:00 minutes left in the quarter; the Spartans gained a 10-point lead over the Fighting Knights. The Spartans offensive play proved to be too much for the Fighting Knights. The Spartans would keep the lead headed into the final 10 minutes. Dori Nagy and Sullivan would lead the Spartans in minutes played, each with 28. || Score: 47-33 Tampa
4th QUARTER
The fourth quarter began with a battle between the two teams. The score of the game was 45-42 with the Spartans holding the narrow lead. Towards the middle of the quarter, the Spartans lead grew to six points, with a score of 49-43. The Fighting Knights offense was not giving up, and the Spartans defense was put to work. With 5:19 left in the game, the Spartans held a one-point lead over the Fighting Knights. Ultimately, the Spartans offense was just too much for the Fighting Knights once again. || Final: 62-58 Tampa
