
Mya Giusto, Sydney Kin Named SSC Players of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Following a pair of victories to move to 4-0 on the season, the University of Tampa swept the honors for Sunshine State Conference Women's Basketball Player and Defensive Players of the Week. Mya Giusto is the Player of the Week as Sydney Kin is the Defensive Player of the Week.
Giusto is selected Player of the Week following her performance in a pair of Tampa wins. The Naples, Florida native tallied 16 points, five rebounds, and an assist as UT won 71-44 against Fort Valley State. Giusto returned to the floor with 21 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a steal in a 75-69 overtime victory against Barry to open conference play. Last week, the guard totaled 37 points by shooting 57% from the field (12-21), 69% from behind the arc (9-13), and 67% from the line (4-6). Giusto averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while playing 71 minutes.
Kin garners Defensive Player of the Week honors following her performance in a pair of Spartan home games. The Carey, Ohio native tallied three blocks, two defensive rebounds, and a steal as UT won 71-44 against Fort Valley State. Kin returned to the floor with a game-high 14 defensive rebounds, two steals, and a block in a 75-69 overtime victory against Barry to open conference play. Offensively, Kin tallied 43 points, seven offensive rebounds, and three assists. The weekly award is the second of her career.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of November 14 - 20, 2022. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
