
Sydney Kin Registers SSC Player of the Week Laurels
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa standout Sydney Kin has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week after guiding the Spartans to three win and a program-record 11 straight wins to open the season.
Kin is awarded Player of the Week honors for the second time in 2022-23 with her play in three Tampa wins. In a 78-69 win over Clayton State, Kin tallied a double-double with game-highs in points (20) and rebounds (14). The Carey, Ohio native opened the Tampa Holiday Tournament with eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks in just over 20 minutes as the Spartans won, 87-58, over Notre Dame (Ohio). Against No. 7 West Texas A&M, Kin recorded an 18-point / 12-rebound double-double and added three steals, three blocks, and two assists. She led all players in scoring and rebounding in the 67-51 UT victory. Last week, the forward/center totaled 46 points by shooting 53% from the field (17-32) and 86% from the line (12-14). Kin averaged 15.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.7 assists, 1.0 steals, and 31.0 minutes per game.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of December 12 - 19, 2022. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
