HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
The matchup between the long standing conference rivals began with the Mocs sinking a three point shot. The Mocs went up by seven points, before Sarah Jones made a basket to get Tampa on the board. The Spartans went on a 6-0 run to cut the Mocs' lead to one point. Senior guard Mya Giusto ran the ball down into the Spartans' offensive zone to put the Spartans in the lead. With three minutes left in the quarter, the Mocs took back the lead in this highly contested conference matchup. 2nd QUARTER
The second quarter began with Florida Southern netting some quick points and extending their lead. The Spartans found themselves in a twelve point deficit with seven minutes left to play before the half. Jones netted a long three point shot to put more points on the board for the Spartans. Audrey Ramsey scored a three of her own to cut the Mocs' lead to eight points. The Spartans' offense started to roll, cutting the Mocs' lead to two points. 3rd QUARTER
The second half opened with Florida Southern netting the first points. Sydney Kin netted her twelfth point of the night to tie the game at 40 points each. About halfway through the third quarter, Tampa held a three point lead over their conference rival. The teams continued to trade points, along with the lead, each netting long three point shots. 4th QUARTER
The final 10 minutes began with Kin getting sent to the line, going 2-2 to build the Tampa lead. With just under seven minutes left to play, the Spartans had a five point lead over the Mocs. Jones continued her great play, scoring two free throws to build the Tampa lead to seven. The Mocs called a timeout with just under three minutes left in the quarter.
