HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
This home matchup began with Syndey Kin winning the opening tip off. The Fighting Knights opened the scoring for the game with a layup in the first minute. The conference foes were both playing well defensively, keeping the score 2-0 Lynn for around four minutes. Melijah Sullivan was sent to the line and got the Spartans on the board. Junior Mya Giusto netted a three point shot to tie the game at four-points halfway through the first quarter. The Spartans were holding on to their lead towards the end of the quarter, and they would keep it heading into the second. Score: 14-10 (Tampa)
2nd QUARTER
The second quarter began with the Spartans on offense, with Audrey Ramsey netting a jump shot to build the Tampa lead. Just over halfway into the quarter, the Spartans had a four point lead over the Fighting Knights. With just over three minutes left to play in the half, Lynn tied the game at 20 points. The teams began trading points back and forth towards the end of the quarter, with the lead switching between the teams as well. Tampa had a late offensive run, causing them to go into the half with the lead. Score: 24-21 (Tampa)
3rd QUARTER
The second half began with Sullivan getting sent to the line and building the Spartan lead to five points. Lynn netted a three point shot to cut into the Tampa lead, but Ramsey responded with a three point shot of her own to keep the lead alive. The Fighting Knights cut the Spartan lead to one point with just over six minutes left in the quarter. Lynn took a one point lead with just over four minutes left to play, but the Spartans got it right back behind Eleanore Marciszewski's layup. This highly contested quarter would end with the Spartans leading by one. Score: 37-36 (Tampa)
4th QUARTER
The last 10 minutes of this intense matchup began with Lynn taking an early three point lead. Kin would continue to have a great game, getting the Spartans back within one point of Lynn. With just over six and a half minutes to play, the Spartans were on a 7-0 run, causing a timeout by the Fighting Knights. Lynn fought back after the Spartans' offensive push, gaining a one point lead with four minutes left to play. With just over two and a half minutes, the Fighting Knights were up by two points. Ramsey netted another three point shot with two minutes left to put the Spartans in the lead by one. This conference showdown would come down to the wire, with the Spartans coming out on top.
