HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
The game started with good defense being played by each team as they started this intense matchup. Audrey Ramsey started the scoring for the Spartans with a three. Sydney Kin added to this with a pair of made free throws. St. Leo then responded with a long three of their own. From here, Tampa goes on a 6-0 run extending their lead. They found themselves up 11 early after another three from Ramsey. St. Leo slowly attempted to chip away at Tampa's lead. A three from St. Leo puts them within six points to close out the first quarter. Score: 16-10 (Tampa)
2nd QUARTER
The second quarter opens with back to back mid range jumpers from Melijah Sullivan. A jumper from Kin then puts Tampa up by 12. A three from Ramsey puts Tampa up 25-12 with a little over 5 minutes left before halftime. Tampa finds themselves on another 7-0 run after a pass from Erin Antosh to Eleanore Marciszewski. Tampa finds themselves at a comfortable lead being up 34-15 before closing out the quarter on top. Score: 36-19 (Tampa)
3rd QUARTER
The third quarter begins with St. Leo beginning the scoring. Tampa quickly responds with a shot of their own. Sullivan goes coast to coast as she helps Tampa maintain their lead. St. Leo goes on a small run steadily creeping up on Tampa. Tampa didn't let this phase them as they continued putting the ball in the hoop with a three from Sarah Jones. St. Leo then cuts Tampa's lead to 12 to finish off the third quarter. Score: 59-47 (Tampa)
4th QUARTER
The last quarter started off with solid defense from both teams. Tampa started the scoring this quarter from the free throw line. St. Leo responded back as they fell into another constant rhythm of scoring. Tampa then made simple mistakes causing St. Leo to capitalize off them and score. Despite this, Tampa managed to hold on to their lead even with multiple attempts from St. Leo to crack it. Score: 78-62 (Tampa)
