Spartans Fall Late in Loss to Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Tampa Spartans fall to Lynn despite a fourth-quarter lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st QUARTER

After an opening layup by Zoe Piller, the Fighting Knights scored six straight points to take a four-point lead. With a 12-7 Lynn lead, Tampa went on a 9-0 scoring run to take a 16-12 lead. Piller would finish scoring Tampa's last four points of the quarter via free throws. | Score: 18-14 Tampa

2nd QUARTER

After an opening basket by Lynn, Tampa would score 11 straight, with the final five coming from Kath Van Bennekom. The Spartans would expand their lead to eleven with a little over 2 minutes left before the half. Lynn would cut the lead to 7 before heading into the locker rooms.  | Score: 34-27 Tampa  

3rd QUARTER

After back-and-forth baskets by each team, Lynn would cut their deficit to five with four minutes to go in the quarter. Mya Giusto would score five straight to put the Spartans back up by 10; however, the Knights would cut it back to 5 right before the quarter. | Score: 45-40 Tampa

4th QUARTER

Lynn broke out the first four minutes of the fourth quarter with a 10-0 scoring run to take a 50-45 lead. Audrey Ramsey would try to claw the Spartans back in the game; however, after making two free throws to cut the lead to three, Tampa wouldn't be able to get any closer the rest of the game and would fall short. | Score: 66-53 Lynn
