Spartan Lose Lead Late

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The No. 13 University of Tampa Spartans fall in the final minute to the Eckerd Tritons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st QUARTER

Spartans had the exact start that they wanted after the opening tip, starting on an 8-0 scoring run. After Eckerd's basket for their first points of the game, Zoe Piller responded with two free throws. The Spartans would keep their lead and stretch it to ten before the quarter ended. | Score: 18-8 Tampa

2nd QUARTER

The second quarter consisted of only back-and-forth basketball. Eckerd would eventually cut into Tampa's lead and cut their deficit to three before Audrey Ramsey ended the half with a three-pointer. | Score: 28-22 Tampa

3rd QUARTER

After both teams scored 5 points, Piller and Ramsey scored two points each to put the Spartans up ten, 37-27. Tampa would eventually extend their lead to eleven before the quarter ended. | Score: 49-38 Tampa

4th QUARTER

Eckerd would score five straight points to open the fourth and cut their deficit to five. Tampa would eventually extend their lead back to ten at the 7-minute mark in the fourth quarter. Eckerd then would close out the game on a 16-3 run. | Score: 61-58 Tampa
