Tampa, Fla – The University of Tampa Women's Basketball team faced off against Georgian Court University tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

FIRST HALF: Tampa had a strong first half, capitalizing on key opportunities to build a comfortable lead. After a slow start with early turnovers, Tampa's defense stepped up with steals by Olivia Davis and Audrey Ramsey, setting the tone. Zoe Piller was dominant offensively, contributing consistently with layups, a tip-in, and critical rebounds. Marissa McDonald provided offensive firepower, scoring multiple baskets, including a crucial three-pointer late in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Tampa's precision from beyond the arc shone, with Davis hitting three consecutive three-pointers, all assisted by McDonald.
Sariana Rodriguez added to the team's momentum with a layup and jump shot, keeping Tampa's offense fluid. Tampa's defensive rebounding was effective, limiting Georgian Court's second-chance opportunities and enabling fast-break plays. By halftime, Tampa's balanced attack and defensive efforts resulted in a commanding 39-22 lead.

SECOND HALF: Tampa continued their dominant performance in the second half, starting strong with a jump shot by Rodriguez to extend their lead to 41-22. The team showcased excellent offensive coordination, with key contributions from Piller, who consistently scored in the paint, and Davis, who added crucial free throws. Tampa's defense remained steadfast, forcing turnovers and limiting Georgian Court's scoring opportunities, exemplified by steals from Rodriguez and Piller. Midway through the third quarter, Tampa capitalized on a technical foul against Georgian Court, further widening the gap to 46-28. Bench players like Vivianne Jende made significant impacts, scoring multiple times and helping Tampa maintain their momentum into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, Tampa's depth shone through as players like Brooklynn Butler and Camryn Patterson contributed to the scoreboard, pushing the lead beyond reach. Tampa's relentless defense continued to stifle Georgian Court, resulting in fast-break opportunities and efficient scoring. Ultimately, Tampa secured a decisive victory with a final score of 77-47, showcasing their dominance on both ends of the court throughout the second half.
