Spartans Ready to Tip-off Sixth Straight NCAA Regional
Jackson, Tenn. – The University of Tampa Women's Basketball program is set to begin their sixth straight NCAA Tournament at the South Regional, hosted by Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Tampa has won the south region each of the last two seasons and will be looking to get back to the NCAA Elite Eight once again. After a 25 win regular season and clinching a share of the SSC Regular Season Title, the Spartans earned the No. 4 seed in the region.
Taking a look at the first round matchup, Tampa will face the No. 5 seeded Flames of Lee University on Friday, March 14th at 7:30pm CT (8:30pm ET). This is the first time since the 2023 NCAA South Regional that these two programs have met, with the Spartans winning that matchup. Both teams pride themselves on playing strong defense and being efficient with the basketball, with the Spartans being named the "Team to Watch" by Wayne Cavadi of NCAA.com. A win for the Spartans would advance them through to the second round on Saturday, March 15th at 7:30pm CT. Should Tampa advance to this contest, they will play the winner of No.1 Union/No. 8 Miles.
Ticket information is available online at www.uuathletics.com/tickets. Fans can purchase tickets at the Fred DeLay Gymnasium ticket office at the front entrance one hour prior to the first game of each day. The prices for tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students (college or younger). Once tickets are purchased by the fans, Non-Union teams will be provided cards to pass out to up to 150 fans to be able to sit behind their team's bench for that game only.
