
Women's Golf Opens Season With Fifth Place Showing
All-American Kiira Riihijarvi led Spartans in first tournament.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's golf team finished fifth at the Daytona State Invitational, which was hosted by Daytona State College.

• Jess Wild | 21st overall, 163
• Heather Kipniss | 25th overall, 164

OTHER NOTABLES:
• Coming off a freshman season where she became the program's first All-American, Riihijarvi led the way with rounds of 80 and 81.
• After shooting an 87 in her first collegiate round, Kipniss carded a team-best 77 in the second round.
• Wild joined Kipniss with a sub-80 round as she recorded a 79 in the final round.
• Head coach Missey Jones did not register any individuals.
• Daytona State's Jiwon Jeun was the top individual with a 145 (+1).
• A total of eight teams competed.
• In addition to UT, also representing the Sunshine State Conference were Florida Southern (2), Saint Leo (3), Palm Beach Atlantic (6) and Embry-Riddle (7).

Tampa returns to the links on November 8-10 at the Nova Southeastern Invitational. The tournament will be played at PGA National Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale.
