
UT Places Eighth at SSC Championships
Spartans rise one spot in final round to complete league tournament.
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's golf team finished eighth at the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championships to wrap up its 2017-18 campaign.

- Kiira Riihijarvi | 8th overall, 226 (+10)
- Heather Kipniss | 23rd overall, 230 (+14)
- Sofia Cadavid | 46th overall, 247 (+31)
- Kensi Olson | 52nd overall, 253 (+37)
- Jess Wild | 53rd overall, 254 (+38)
OTHER NOTABLES:
- Riihijarvi has been Tampa's top shooter in eight tournaments this season.
- The top overall round was a third-round 69 by Kipniss as she was the lone Spartan to finish a round under 70.
- Riihijarvi was UT's only golfer to shoot under 80 in all three rounds.
- The sophomore All-American, Riihijarvi, carded rounds of 78, 73 and 75 to lead Tampa.
- Head coach Missey Jones did not register any individuals.
- Michelle Ruiz of team-champion Nova Southeastern was the SSC individual champion with a 210 (-6).
- A total of 11 teams competed.
UP NEXT:
Riihijarvi will await word on the NCAA Tournament as she could qualify as an individual to defend her 2017 NCAA South Super Regional individual championship.
