School Record Second Round Helps Spartans Finish Among Top Teams at Lady Moc Invite

LAKELAND, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's golf team turned in a record-setting second round as it finished third overall against several of the nation's top teams at the Lady Moc Invite.

TOP SPARTAN PERFORMERS:

OTHER NOTABLES:

  • Riihijarvi was the top Spartan golfer for the fifth time in six tournaments in the 2019-20 season.
  • This marks the third top-five finish of Riley's freshman season.
  • Riley also registered the first-ever hole-in-one for the Spartans as she registered the eagle on Monday.
  • The top Spartan round was a second-round 66 by Riihijarvi. She opened the tournament with a 67 on Monday.
  • Riley and Riihijarvi were the lone Spartans with sub-70 rounds as the freshman carded a 69 in the first round.
  • Head coach Missey Jones also registered freshman Jelena Lainovic. She would finish 70th overall with a score of 243 (+27).
  • Valentina Albertazzi was the individual medalist with a three-round score of 205 (-11).
  • Joining UT and team champion Nova Southeastern from the Sunshine State Conference was Barry (2), Lynn (4), Saint Leo (5), Rollins (6), Florida Southern (7), Embry-Riddle (10), Palm Beach Atlantic (12), Eckerd (15) and Rollins B team (16).

UP NEXT:
Tampa will compete at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational on March 9-10. The tournament will be hosted by SSC opponent Rollins at Golden Bear Club at Keene's Point in Windermere, Fla.
