
Jimenez Rios Finishes First to Lead Spartans at Buccaneer Invite
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - University of Tampa women's golfer Ana Maria Jimenez Rios finished three rounds of regulation play with the low score as UT finished eighth overall at the BarryU Women's Invitational at Miami Shores Country Club. The course included a par-71 spanning 5,939 yards as the Spartans finished at 897 (+45).
Leading the charge for Tampa was Ana Maria Jimenez Rios, whose outstanding play earned her a tie for 1st place overall. Jimenez carded rounds of 66, 70, and 73 to finish with a total score of 209 (-4).
Emilie Bjorge also contributed significantly to the team's efforts, finishing tied for 30th with a score of 225 (+12), thanks to rounds of 69, 80, and 76. Ella Mason and Silvia Barnes added to the team's performance, with Mason finishing tied for 42nd with a total of 231 (+18) and Barnes tied for 44th with a total of 233 (+20).
Maxime Holletschek rounded out the Tampa squad, finishing with a score of 249 (+36) and placing 57th.
The Buccaneer Invitational was won by Barry University, who led the team standings with a total score of 865 (+13), closely followed by Nova Southeastern and Lynn.
Tampa returns to action on April 1-2 at the Florida Southern Invitational. The event will be played at The Club at Eaglebrooke in Lakeland, Fla.
