
Runner-Up Performance From Ana Maria Jimenez Rios Leads UT at SSC Championships
LARGO, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's golf team placed seventh at the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Championships. The annual event was hosted at Bayou Country Club, and consisted of three rounds.
As a team, the Spartans carded rounds of 308, 307, and 306 for a total of 921 (+57). St. Leo University won the team championship with a score of 897 (+33), followed by Nova Southeastern at 904 (+40).
Another standout performance came from UT's Ana Maria Jimenez Rios, who seized runner-up honors in the individual standings with her rounds of 74, 71, and 73, totaling 218 (+2). The tournament's top scorer, Maya Cote from St. Leo, who finished with a 215.
Ella Mason ended up tied for 17th with a score of 229 (+13), and Emily Bjørge finished tied for 31st with a score of 236 (+20). Maxime Holletschek and Silvia Barnes also participated, ending with scores of 243 (+27) and 256 (+40) respectively.
Tampa now awaits word on its fate for the 2024 NCAA South Regional, which is scheduled for May 5-8 in Cleveland, Tenn.
